60 Seconds Workout Club – ISSUE N.08
Have you ever had a hard time getting started or sticking to a workout routine? I know I have. Many times. Most of my friends keep saying the same, that they get stuck and get unmotivated...
Once upon a time, I was working out regularly. I enjoyed it and my body was in good shape. Then I slipped. I missed one day, then that became two days. That quickly turned into weeks. And just like that, I had forgotten how to workout and I struggled to get motivated and re-build the habbit.
The problem is…
From speaking with friends, I’ve learned that I’m far from alone. Many people find themselves struggling staying motivated, or they get numb by their social feeds, and end up on the couch instead of doing a bit of exercise.
Most people are experiencing similar things. There is no shame in that, I think it’s plain human nature. Like many things, we need to feel connected and be pushed and/or motivated by each other.
So my own problems stem from the fact that since 2017 I’ve been working from home. This means I have no friends in the office that can help me be motivated, and there is no natural way for me to get out of the house and get moving. Everything has to be designed with intent, I need to decide my habits and stick with them. This is extremely hard.
So I got an idea, enter the 60 Seconds Workout Club
Day 0 – Testing things out.
So I thought to myself: Why don’t I try to motivate myself by motivating others? I made a short video of me doing 3 random exercises in 60 seconds and posted it to a group of friends. Within a short while, they had all done the exercises! Eureka! I mean this is awesome. We literally made hundreds of push-ups, sit-ups, and squats. Just like that. Great work everyone. I was pumped, I scored my highest mood score in months and had a generally great day.
I know 60 seconds is not a big ask, but that is not the point. For most people doing 10 pushups a day never happens. Thus 60 seconds can make a big difference. If you do 10 pushups, 10 situps, and 10 squats each day. Thats 70/70/70 more exercises than 0 every week. That makes a difference. Now I don’t want us to do just that. Instead, I see this as an opportunity to cheer each other on, keep us motivated, mix up the daily workouts. With so many added benefits, like connecting with like-minded people.
Day 1 – Doing squats.
The second day, new workout, yesterday we were 10 people, today we are 20 people, and the invites are open. This is a great time to try this out. Show up for 60 seconds each day, get a little short exercise done, and continue with your day. No need to shower, no need to be in a gym, you just need to show up for yourself.
Excited to see where I can take this. And It for sure keeps me motivated. Fun to see everyone participate to, even if you can’t make it today, just show up tomorrow. No pressure.
Day 2 - Burpees.
We said hello to a couple of new people, we are 23 people so far. Super fun. Now is a good time to join, everyone is starting to get to know eachother. Burpees from hell today. Just kidding, you do as many as you want, 5, 10 or 15.
Join in on the fun
I would love to see all of you join in on the fun, if you don’t like it after trying out, just quietly leave, no judgment, but honestly, come for the 60 seconds, stay for the amazing people. It’s 100% free, and it’s just for good times and most importantly for yourself.
I put 4 buttons so you would not miss them 💪🏼🔥
And a 5th one, just incase you mist the first ones.
One more for good times.
