Quick Prompt: Kitchen Design
Midjourney Prompt. Create elegant kitchen photos using this starting prompt. Make it your own, experiment, add, remove and tinker to create new ideas.
💬 Photography of a primitive interior design style for modern times, a kitchen, big windows, jungle, with earthy finishes and cozy detailing throughout, intrinsic details --q 2 --ar 3:2 --v 5
This is a prompt for Midjourney — Signup on their discord to get started using the tool.
I’m starting off with a simple jungle theme kitchen. You can imagine a wooden house built in a rainforest location. Like Costa Rica or Indonesia. We’re going for earthy finishes and cozy details.
Here you can use dynamic prompting to add/remove parts of the prompt to iterate your way towards what you want. If you want to play around with the aspect ratio you can do that too by changing the —ar 3:2 to an aspect of your liking.
💬 Photography of a primitive interior design style for modern times, a kitchen, Modern, concrete, steel, design, morning light, with exclusive finishes and minimalist detailing throughout, intrinsic details --q 2 --ar 3:2 --v 5
Here we are using the same structure, but we’ve changed out the jungle parts for a Modern, concrete & steel look. We still have the hint of primitive design, we are lacking cupboards over the kitchen top and we got some nice wooden art pieces on the wall. I’ve added “morning light” to the prompt to give that nice subtle light coming in at an angle through the windows.
💬 Photography of a primitive interior design style for modern times, a kitchen, big windows, winter style modern house, with exclusive finishes and minimalist detailing throughout, intrinsic details --q 2 --ar 3:2 --v 5
Let’s explore changing the location and time of year to be winter. Again we get to see some pretty large changes to the output, with small tweaks to the prompt.
My goal here is not to get you a prompt that you just copy and reproduce my images, but to give you a sense of whats possible.
Maybe you are not interested in interiors yourself, but you might no someone in your life that is. Then this would potentially be a very powerful tool for them to quickly get ideas out of their heads.
Making outputs that you can present as ideas
💬 Sketch of a primitive interior design style for modern times, a kitchen, big windows, jungle, with earthy finishes and cozy detailing throughout, intrinsic details --q 2 --ar 3:2 --seed 4242 --v 5
If you are working with interior design, and you want to use Midjourney as a tool in your creative process, you can actually pretty easy make the outputs look like sketches. You can either just modify our starting prompt and changing “Photograph” to “Sketch”.
💬 A sketch of a primitive interior design style for modern times, a kitchen, Modern, concrete, steel, design, morning light, with exclusive finishes and minimalist detailing throughout, intrinsic details --q 2 --ar 3:2 --v 5
If you have a personal sketching style, you can use a few of your sketches to use as inspiration by adding them to the prompt as such.
💬 <REFERENCE IMAGE 1> <REFERENCE IMAGE 2> <REFERENCE IMAGE 3> + Sketch of a primitive interior design style for modern times, a kitchen, big windows, jungle, with earthy finishes and cozy detailing throughout, intrinsic details --q 2 --ar 3:2 --seed 4242 --v 5
To the left is one of the style references and to to the right is an output, there is a minor problem with my reference image, and that is that the output image now contains a sofa, we can address that by adding “—no sofa” to the prompt. We also want to address the colors in the sketch, and add “Pencil Sketch”
Adding a professional magazine look
💬 Interior Photography from Dwell magazine of a primitive interior design style for modern times, a kitchen, big windows, winter style modern house, with exclusive finishes and minimalist detailing throughout, intrinsic details --q 2 --ar 3:2 --v 5
If you want to create a more editorial look, you can use existing interior magazines as part of your prompt, or just “editorial”. Above we have added “Interior Photography from Dwell Magazine” to the start of our prompt to give the output a different look than what we had before.
💬 Interior Photography from Dwell magazine of a primitive interior design style for modern times, a kitchen, big windows, winter style modern house, with exclusive finishes and minimalist detailing throughout, intrinsic details --q 2 --ar 3:2 --v
We can see that adding the Dwell part to the prompt, changes the vibe entirely from what we had before. There are many stylistic options to pick from. Just ask ChatGPT or Google to find specific magazine or editorial looks as reference.
Bonus style - Isometric look
💬 Photorealistic Isometric Kitchen in a primitive interior design style for modern times, a kitchen, big windows, winter style modern house, with exclusive finishes and minimalist detailing throughout, intrinsic details --q 2 --ar 1:1 --v 5
We can tweak the start of the prompt again and add “Photorealistic Isometric” and from there we can use any of the prompts above, just go crazy. This can be a more playful way of showing of different rooms, getting a sense for how they can look from above. You can play with different styles here too, or use the word “miniature” and see what comes out of that. Try to have a playful mindset.
More explorations
The best way to go about this is to play, and explore a lot. Don’t be afraid of making mistakes or getting crap output. Just keep playing
