The "Pause Letter" was poisoned by Elon's signature. Of course caution and oversight are needed, and possible pauses in technological development should always be considered. But over these past three years, every socially important event that Elon touches becomes distorted. Everyone I know speaks of the "Pause" as an expression of Elon's ego. Some signatures are best declined.
Yeah I think this is an interesting perspective, personally Elons signature on this or not I could give less shit about, but Nick Bostrom, and Max Tegmark for sure punches harder here.
